Lena Headey appears nude in ‘Terminator’ spin-off

Lena HeadleyThe Terminator is back - and she's naked.

Brit actress Lena Headey hit U.S. screens nude last night in sci-fi spin-off series 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."

The 34-year-old British babe - who starred as Queen Gorgo in '300 - plays the title role of Sarah Conner.

In the first episode she found herself naked in the middle of an L.A. freeway alongside her son John Conner (Thomas Dekker,) and a friendly female Terminator (Summer Glau) who helps the pair time travel out of danger.

The show has received positive reviews from U.S. television critics but some die-hard fans have been harder to please.

Actress Linda Hamilton previously filled the role alongside original Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger. "She's a beloved iconic character," Headey said  "Certain people, I guess, will never open their minds. I guess that ghost is always going to be there."

The new made-for-TV series is set in between Terminator 2 and 3 as Sarah Connor and her son John try to escape from Skynet controlled Terminators in the hope of stopping the rise of the robots and armageddon.

American actress Summer Glau, 26, plays sexy android Cameron Phillips, sent back to the future to help protect the Connors.

Headey has admitted she was not a fan of the original films. "I saw the first 'Terminator' movie when I was a teenager and, at that time of my life, I wasn't deeply interested in things like that," she said.

The star says she has since tried to make the new role her own.

Headey said: "I just thought it was really important to make this Sarah my own because it's going to be on my shoulders and my responsibility.

"What I think I've taken from Hamilton's performance is she's incredibly strong as a human being, and I think her belief in humanity and right and wrong is incredibly ingrained and she's trying to put the same thing into John, so I took that from her performance."

The U.S. Fox network has put Headey in a timeslot previously occupied by Kiefer Sutherland's hit-series 24.

Because of the Hollywood writers strike the new season of '24 was not complete so the new series was bumped up the bill.

The series has been picked up in the U.K. by Freeview channel Virgin One.

Headey will be hoping she can do better in the ratings stakes than fellow Brit and former Eastender Michelle Ryan who appeared to be taking Hollywood by storm in her starring role as the new Bionic Woman but has since seen viewer figures plummet.
