Michelle Williams' rep has hit out at recent reports that the former 'Dawson's Creek' actress once forced her tragic ex-boyfriend Heath Ledger into rehab. "Much of the tabloid reporting is inaccurate," Williams' rep Mara Buxbaum said. "This fabricated story of Michelle Williams attempting to bring Heath Ledger to rehab is just one lie among many. The speculation is heinous. Let this family grieve privately."
Ledger's alleged battle with drugs and booze reportedly affected his relationship with Williams so much - she drove him to rehab.
For three years Williams - who has a two-year-old daughter, Matilda with the late actor, was a firsthand witness to the Brokeback Mountain star's use of alcohol and drugs, including cocaine, heroin and "a variety of pills," a Ledger confidant told Us Weekly magazine.
In 2006 when Matilda was only five months old, Williams drove Ledger to Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, Calif., a source told Us Weekly magazine.
But Ledger refused to check into the rehab facility, and vowed to get clean himself
The couple split in September 2007, and various sources claim that Williams demanded Ledger be drug-tested before his visitations with Matilda.
Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment on January 22. He was 28.
His naked body was surrounded by open packages of prescription sleeping and anti-anxiety pills, police have said.
The cause of death has yet to be determined.
