Bette Midler hit all the right notes when she showcased material from her upcoming Las Vegas show on a US chat show.
The Beaches star, 62, performed on 'Oprah' Monday looking trim, as she gears up for a two year run in upcoming Vegas show, 'Bette Midler: The Showgirl Must Go On' at the Colosseum, Caesars Palace.
The actress/singer revealed that being back on stage, dancing and singing has helped her shed the pounds, admitting that she was a "porker" before she started rehearsals for her new show.
Midler said: "I was a porker. I gained 16 pounds in two years, because I stopped working. As soon as I started to get ready for this show, jumping, running and dancing, I managed to lose 17 pounds."
Midler was joined on the popular chat show by daughter Sophie, 21, who was making her first television appearance.
Sophie, currently a student at Yale University, revealed how her mum had persuaded her not to try for a career in the arts.
Sophie said: "My mum dissuaded me from becoming an actress and a singer. She would say to me, 'If you ever go into the movie business I'll never speak to you again."
Midler's run at Caesars Palace starts on 20 February, where the singer will perform 100 shows in two years.
