Freddy's back.
A US production company hopes to remake eighties horror flick franchise, A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The series launched in 1984. It created one of the most popular and scary baddies in screen history - Freddy Krueger, played by Robert Englund, as the child killer who haunts youngster in their sleep.
Englund, 59, appeared in at least eight films and countless TV episodes.
The runaway success of the original film, A Nightmare on Elm Street, spawned several sequels.
New Line Cinema plan to bring back the franchise after they successfully revisited The Texas Chainsaw Massacre five years ago, Hollywood trade newspaper Variety reported.
A new version of Friday The 13th, announced last year, is also going ahead, while recent Hollywood remakes from other studios include Halloween and The Hills Have Eyes.
