Maggie Gyllenhaal shows her support for striking writers

Maggie GyllenhaalMaggie Gyllenhaal shows her support for Hollywood's striking writers - by having a lesbian threesome in a short film.

The actress plays a spurned girlfriend who arrives at her boyfriend's apartment - only to find he's arranged dates with two other women. All three women arrive at the same time.

But then they realize the love rat has stood the trio up - so the women decide to make the best of a bad thing, and hop into bed together after a few glasses of wine.

Gyllenhaal's character lies on a bed and invites them to take part in "an interim agreement."

Then a sexy pizza girl shows up - and joins in the fun, which takes place behind a closed door.

The three-and-a-half minute black-and-white film is the latest release in the Writer's Guild of America [WGA]

"Speechless" campaign. Some of Hollywood's biggest names have signed up to appear in other short films they hope will help highlight the ongoing battle.

The Hollywood writers' strike is now in its 12th week. The dispute centres on how writers should be compensated for their work when it appears on DVD or the internet.

In real life, World Trade Center star Maggie, 30, is dating director Peter Sarsgaard, with whom she has a daughter, Ramona, born in October 2006.

The other women to appear in the short film, created by Factory Girl director George Hickenlooper and Alan Sereboff, are Zoe Kazan, Allyson Sereboff and Diana Paschal.
