Sean Young enters rehab for alcohol abuse

Sean YoungBlade Runner star Sean Young entered rehab for alcohol abuse following a weekend outburst in which she was heckling from the audience at the Directors Guild of America awards.

"Actress Sean Young voluntarily admitted herself yesterday to a rehabilitation center for treatment related to alcoholism," a statement from Insignia PR said Tuesday. "It is understood that Young has struggled against the disease for many years."

She was thrown out of a Hollywood awards show for heckling director Julian Schnabel.

Schnabel was the last of five Best Director nominees to take the stage at the Directors Guild of America bash on Saturday.

But moments after he took to the stage, he was forced to stop when Young shouted, 'Come on, get to it!'

An insider said: "She yelled out, 'Hurry up with the speech,' and he looked like Raging Bull. More

"He shot back, 'Have another cocktail sweetheart, or would you rather finish my speech for me?'"

The insider continued: "The entire room gasped.

"He almost charged off without finishing his speech, to the point where the music started to play. But he calmed himself and came back and finished."

Young, 48, who was sitting at Helen Hunt's table, also heckled La Vie en Rose actress Marion Cotillard - in French; and she became unruly during a video clip of George Clooney, according to the New York Daily News.

A source told the paper: "Her date was whispering to her that she was drunk, and she would push him off and slur, 'No, you're drunk. I'm not leaving. YOU leave!'"

The former model shot to fame with roles opposite Harrison Ford in Blade Runner and Kevin Costner in No Way Out in 1987.

A 1988 romance with The Boost co-star James Woods famously ended with him suing her for harassment.

Young granted a rare interview last September to Entertainment Weekly, which called her a "Hollywood pariah."

She told the magazine she has little regard for Hollywood and Los Angeles: "The city of angels? It's the city of devils. The city of smiling cobras. This [town] eats venom for breakfast."

She added: "I've been forced to deal with my character assassination. I never hurt anybody in this business, ever."
At least she knows how to make an exit.
