Heath Ledger's ex-lover Michelle Williams arrived at Landvetter Airport in Gothenburg, Sweden on Wednesday with 2-year-old daughter Matilda in tow, according to reports. The former Dawson's Creek actress, 27, who was on location in Sweden filming the movie Mammoth, was expected to return to her Brooklyn, N.Y., home after learning of Heath Ledger's death Tuesday in New York.
A source close to the actress told People.com that she was "devastated" upon hearing the news of Ledger's untimely demise.
She and Ledger split in September last year, but they both agreed that parenting their daughter came first. "I can't believe Matilda is going to grow up without a dad, without knowing her father," another source said. "And that Michelle will have to deal with having a daughter who's lost her father. She's a survivor. She'll make it, but it's going to be hard. Her first concern is going to be Matilda."
Michelle Williams' mum and her Dawson's Creek co-star Busy Philipps were also present.
Michelle's mother, Carla, and Philipps, who is Matilda's godmother, arrived at the couple's Brooklyn home in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Both of the women looked visibly upset as they got out of a limousine and walked into the house.
Williams and Philipps, 28, are friendly from their days on the teen drama 'Dawson's Creek.'
Philipps is godmother to Matilda Ledger, who was born to the former couple in 2005.
Busy played the role of Audrey Liddell in the hit show, while Williams played the part of Jen Lindley.
Since 2006 Philipps has had a recurring role in medical drama 'ER'.
