Tracey Edmonds cut off her marriage to comedian Eddie Murphy because he was like "Jekyll and Hyde", a friend claimed today . The film producer allegedly became scared when Murphy flew into a rage.
And she finally walked out when the actor insisted his MOTHER accompanied them on honeymoon.
The friend told a US newspaper: "That was kind of the last straw.
"She was happy to sign a pre-nup - she has her own money. She was very accommodating. But then it was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
"Eddie became very controlling and they got into a huge fight. He started screaming at her and grabbed her. She was scared."
It had earlier been claimed the marriage faltered when Edmonds refused to sign a pre-nuptial agreement.
Murphy "married" Edmonds in a spiritual ceremony on New Year's Day in Bora Bora, in the South Pacific.
But it was not legally binding and the couple last week scrapped plans to formalise their union.
The friend added: "She was even willing to change her name to Tracey Murphy, and all the wedding invites and place cards had her labeled as such."
A spokeswoman for Edmonds, 40, declined to comment.
Beverly Hills Cops star Murphy's spokesman said: "We won't comment any further on this."
Last week, Murphy said in a statement: "After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forgo having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further.
"We have decided to remain friends."
Murphy, 46, has five children from a previous marriage and a baby daughter with Spice Girl Mel B.
