The Cashmere Mafia hits US TV

Meet the Cashmere Mafia - the sassy ladies muscling in on the Sex and the City girls' New York turf.

The four high-flying execs struggling to juggle their business affairs with tangled private lives hit US TV screens for the first time last night.

And the girls looked to be drinking to success as they met up in a Big Apple bar.

Magazine publisher Mia Mason - played by Kill Bill star Lucy Liu - was the first to enjoy a steamy screen kiss as she hooked up with a hunky brain surgeon (Jack Yang).

Romance also looked to be on the cards for blonde Caitlin Dowd (Bonnie Somerville) as she had a close encounter with a handsome stranger in a restaurant bathroom.

But she could have some serious explaining to do to her girlfriend - having only just decided she preferred girls to guys.

Fed-up Juliet Draper (Miranda Otto) put herself back on the singles market by dumping her lying husband.

And Zoe Burden (Frances O'Connor) needed a drink with her pals as she joined in a "laser-tag" party with her young son.

Cashmere Mafia is the creation of Darren Star, the man behind Sex and the City.
