Britney Spears loses right to see kids

Britney SpearsHospital bed-bound Britney Spears has suffered yet another blow - the right to see her kids.

Kevin Federline was awarded sole legal and physical custody of sons Sean Preston and Jayden James after his lawyers called an emergency hearing on Friday morning.

Britney's monitored visitation rights have been suspended "pending further order of the Court".

Lawyers Mark Kaplan, for K-Fed, and Tara Scott, for Britney, came face to face at LA Superior Court for the latest bizarre twist in the high profile child custody battle.

The pair spent 30 minutes in chambers with County Commissioner Scott Gordon in the morning, before returning to the courtroom at 1.45pm. It took just half an hour for the parties to present their case, and for Gordon to ban Britney from seeing her sons.

Kaplan was swarmed by reporters in the court corridors as he left the court hearing, which was held behind closed doors. He confirmed that "several" orders had been made but said he deemed it inappropriate to speak to the press at this time.

A court-minute order, released less than an hour after the hearing, revealed that Britney, 26, had lost the right to see her children.

"Respondent [Federline] is awarded sole legal custody and sole physical custody of the minor children," the court papers state. "Petitioner's [Spears'] visitation with the minor children is suspended pending further order of the court."
A further hearing in the custody battle was set for January 14th.

The emergency court hearing was scheduled at the last minute, just hours after Britney was rushed to hospital. The Toxic singer was taken by ambulance to Cedars Sinai Hospital following a strange evening, where she held her sons hostage and was then detained by police, who suspected she was 'under the influence of an unknown substance'.

Kaplan visited Britney at her home - and went to the hospital after she was admitted.

The lawyer said Federline had not attended the last-minute court hearing, despite media reports to the contrary.

Tara Scott left the building without comment.

Britney was stripped of custody of her sons last year, after she failed to obey court orders, and the boys have been living with Federline.

Up until now the Baby One More Time star has been allowed monitored visits, on the condition that she submits to random drugs tests.

K-Fed is understood to have collected the children last night and taken them to his house.
