Amy Winehouse to get a 24-hour guard

Amy WinehouseAmy Winehouse's family are reportedly so worried about the singer's state-of-mind, they've drafted in a 24-hour surveillance team in a last-ditch attempt to save her from destruction.

The 24-year-old singer's distraught father Mitch, 57, wants one of the singer’s trusted pals - or a hired professional - to stay with her around the clock, after the shocking footage of her smoking what appeared to be crack cocaine was released earlier this week.

Under the new “tough love” approach, the minder would live with the Rehab singer and even Sleep outside her room.

A source close to Mitch told British newspaper The Sun: "Mitch realizes this is crunch time. Amy either has to choose life or oblivion. The family have been keeping a very close eye on her for weeks now.

"In fact, her brother was with her just one hour before she was filmed smoking crack. But Mitch now realizes that even this is not enough any more and Amy needs 24-hour surveillance."

After the footage emerged, taxi driver Mitch said he hoped it would encourage Amy to seek professional help.

He said: "I've spoken to her already and she is fine. She says she is OK, so no problems. To be honest, all that video shows is what everybody knew anyway.

"Yes, obviously I am worried about her but this video doesn't show anything we didn't already know before."

Police are now "assessing" the video to determine whether or not further action needs to be taken against the Beehived soul diva.
