X Factor loser Rhydian Roberts has slammed Leon Jackson's number one Christmas single.
The Welsh virgin, 25, and former shop assistant Leon, 18, both sang X Factor track When You Believe in the ITV1 talent show’s final — but only Jackson, as the winner, got to release it.
And asked yesterday if he had bought Leon's chart-topping single, he sniffed: “No. I don’t particularly like the song. But I didn’t like my version either. I’m glad I didn’t win and release the song as my rendition would have got slated.”
Meanwhile, at the request of Roberts' family, Welsh radio stations have lifted a ban on Leon’s song that they imposed amid claims of X Factor vote-fixing.
Media watchdog Ofcom are probing the fix claims. But before jetting off on a family holiday to Mexico, Rhyd insisted last night: “Leon and me get on relatively well. I was gutted I didn’t win but it could not have happened to a nicer guy.”
Rhyd has bagged a record deal with X Factor boss Simon Cowell and is being lined up by Lord Lloyd Webber for the lead in a Broadway sequel to West End smash Phantom Of The Opera, reports British newspaper The Sun.
Rhyd revealed: “Things will be announced soon.”
