Paul McCartney sings with Kylie Minogue

Paul McCartneyAustralian pop princess Kylie Minogue joined music legend Sir Paul McCartney on-stage during Jools Holland's annual New Year's Eve "Hootenanny".

The pair duetted on stage a couple of minutes before midnight - where they sang Paul's latest single "Dance Tonight" from his new album Memory Almost Full.

In other New Year's news, X Factor singer Leon Jackson canceled his Edinburgh Hogmanay performance due to ill health, he said: "I'm just disappointed to be letting people down, but it wouldn't feel nice to get on stage and not be able to deliver."

A spokesman for the event said: "We are very disappointed that Leon is unable to play tonight. His presence would have been a great way to open the celebrations, but we are still very excited about the excellent entertainment that we have lined up on all the stages.

"The fireworks promise to be bigger and better than ever, and tonight's street party will again confirm that Edinburgh is the ultimate home of Hogmanay."
