Oliver Stone turns hostage negotiator

Oliver StoneDirector Oliver Stone has thrown himself into a new role - a hostage negotiator.

The Oscar-winning star flew to Colombia over the weekend as part of an international delegation to secure the release of three captives.

A Colombian politician, her aide, and her aide's son, are all being held by the country's FARC guerilla group.

Stone was invited to join the mission by controversial Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez when the pair met several weeks ago.

Stone is also producing a movie on the life of the late drug baron Pablo Escobar.
