Man launches campaign to get ginger couples together

Redhead Steve Warrington is so concerned ginger hair is facing extinction he has launched a campaign to get ginger couples together.

When Warrington, from Detroit, USA, heard scientific evidence that auburn locks could disappear within a hundred years he designed a dating website especially for redheads.

The social networking site www.redhedd.com claims that because the production of red hair involves a recessive gene, redheads need to have children together to stop their genes becoming extinct.

Around two per cent of the world's population is estimated to be natural redheads and only four per cent carry the gene.

Warrington has even married a woman with auburn locks in hope of passing on the red head gene to his child.

He said: "I made a website where people can log on and become a member and if everything goes right they can get together and make some more redhead babies.

"I'm married to a woman who has a little red in her hair. We don't have a redhead baby yet but we'll keep trying until we get one.

"I don't think the reaction to red hair in the US is quite as dramatic as the one in the UK. It seems like you guys have quite a lot of stick for the gingers," he said on LK Today.
