X Factor winner Leon Jackson says he's determined to follow in the footsteps of fellow Scotsman Paolo Nutini - and refuses to be moulded into a mini Michael BublĂ©, despite showing a fondness for jazz on X Factor - the 19-year-old insists there’s more to him than meets the eye.
He told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: “I always used to sing Paulo Nutini songs at karaoke and that’s the kind of style I’d like to record on my album.
“Something like Paolo, and a bit James Morrison, is what I’m aiming for.
“They didn’t want to stereotype me on X Factor as being another young Scottish singer so wouldn’t let me do a Paolo song, even though I wanted to.
“Jazz is my favourite style and my voice really suits that, but I’m very versatile.
“I like John Legend so R&B is an area I want to explore too.
“It’s going to be an album of original and interesting material that I make.”
As Leon, a former shop assistant at the GAP continues to have chart success with his single,"When You Believe," he insists he's getting to grips with fame, so don’t expect to see him going off the rails anytime soon.
He promises: “I won’t be allowed to get big-headed. I’d get kicked down by my mum or gran if I developed an ego.
“Because of my upbringing I think my feet are very well on the ground.
“And I’m a good judge of character, so no-one will take advantage of me.
“Drugs have never been me. I’m not interested. I much prefer a quiet drink and karaoke with my pals.
