Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and new husband, singer Josh Kelley, paid tribute to their dead brother and sister at their Christmas wedding, it has been revealed.
The actress - who played the part of intern Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens in the award-winning TV medical drama, and rocker Josh exchanged vows in front of friends and family in a "winter wonderland" on December 23, but the ceremony also included a musical tribute to Katherine's brother, Jason, who died in 1986, and Josh's sister who died as a baby.
29-year-old Katherine revealed: "That was the most moving part of the whole day."
Katherine - who made her acting debut in the 1992 movie That Night, wore a dress by Oscar de la Renta.
Guests at the wedding included her sister, Meg, her matron of honor, as well as three bridesmaids and four groomsmen, including Josh's brother Charles, his best man, and Katherine's 'Grey's Anatomy' co-star T.R. Knight. Fellow cast members Justin Chambers, Sandra Oh and Kate Walsh were also present.
Katherine said: "I don't think either one of us was thinking a Christmas wedding. Originally it was because I only get two weeks a year for my Christmas vacation, but then we really got excited about it.
"We wanted to do it in a place that felt like a winter wonderland. We incorporated lots of big evergreens in the reception with twinkle lights and Christmas decorations."
The actress confessed she and Josh are extremely excited about living together, but can't agree on when to start a family.
She added to America's OK! magazine: "We're elated! We have never lived together. We don't even sleep in the same bed when family is around!
"This new house means now we are in this together. It means compromise on style, taste and how each one of us lives, how we don't like to live and how we're going to work it all out. It's going to be an amazing place to start our lives together and start a family.
"I'd like to start talking children seriously in the next year, but Josh feels more like two years, so we'll probably do a year and a half."
