Jessica Simpson's father, Joe Simpson is ruining her relationship with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo with his constant meddling, it has been claimed. The former 'Newly Weds' star began dating Romo, 27, last November after being set up by Joe, but insiders claim his constant presence is endangering the the already troubled romance.
One family friend said: "Joe is always around - he even went with Tony and Jessica to Cabo on holiday. It's weird that Joe was on vacation with them. But he oversteps his bounds all the time, and Jess lets him.
"Joe just can't leave Jess' love life alone. His over protectiveness has always caused huge problems in Jessica's relationships."
Although Joe's shadow has affected his daughter's relationships with her ex-husband Nick Lachey and John Mayer, Tony is happy to indulge Joe - for now.
A source told Life and Style Weekly magazine: "Tony just laughed when he heard Joe was coming on holiday. He knows Joe is one of his biggest fans, and he wants to have a good relationship with him. So if Joe wanted to hang out with them in Cabo, there was no way Tony was going to say no.
"Tony likes Joe, but at some point he's going to get sick of Joe hanging around and all the calls and family get-togethers."
Joe is also reportedly trying to break up his other daughter, Ashlee Simpson's relationship with Pete Wentz - so that she can be the star of a new reality dating show.
Joe believes the show will help promote Ashlee's second album, Bittersweet World, which is due for release in March.
But Ashlee, 23, will be forced to end her relationship with the Fall Out Boy rocker first - so that she can be completely single for the new show.
A source tells OK! magazine, "He wants Ashlee to break up with Pete".
The insider adds of the proposed show, "It will put 14 guys in a house and they will compete to date Ashlee".
