Helena Bonham Carter compares Sweeney Todd to her home life

Helena Bonham Carter and Tim BurtonActress Helena Bonham Carter reckons her new movie, 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' is a "portrait of her home life".

The 41-year-old actress - who stars alongside Johnny Depp in the macabre musical directed by her long-term partner Tim Burton - joked the dark film is a mirror image of her relationship with the eccentric filmmaker.

Talking about his new movie, Burton said: "I thought it was a light-hearted comedy musical. I thought it was quite funny. If I was an actor, the role of Sweeney Todd would be the perfect part for me. You don't have to talk, you don't have to say anything, you just look out the window and look brood and be angry."

Which prompted Helena to say: "That would be a portrait of our home life too."

49-year-old Burton - who has two children with Helena, also revealed he has soundproofed the door connecting the couple's two separate houses so he couldn't hear Helena practicing her singing.

Helena said: "I had to practice every day but luckily we live in separate houses. We have a door in-between but the door was always shut."

Tim added: "I had the door soundproofed as well."

Tim Burton recently revealed that he is finally ready to marry Helena.

The couple - who are currently engaged, first hooked up when Burton, 49, directed the English actress in Planet Of The Apes seven years ago.

Tim recently told Britain's Radio Times magazine: "Helena and I feel so married we never got around to doing it, but I'm thinking about it.

"I'm a late bloomer."
