Ang Lee directed the late Australian actor HEATH LEDGER in his Oscar-nominated performance in the 2005 Brokeback Mountain, where the actor met his ex-girlfriend, Michelle Williams. "Working with Heath was one of the purest joys of my life,” Lee, 53, said in a statement to Us Weekly magazine. “He brought to the role of Ennis more than any of us could have imagined - a thirst for life, for love, and for truth, and a vulnerability that made everyone who knew him love him.”
Lee is still struggling to come to terms with Ledger's untimely passing.
“His death is heartbreaking," he said.
Ledger was found dead Tuesday in his downtown Manhattan apartment.
A new report claims drugs, including a $20 bill with narcotic residue on it, were confiscated.
The NYPD have confirmed that a rolled-up $20 bill was found near the 28-year-old's body - but that no illegal drugs were found in his apartment.
NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly says that no drug residue was found on the note, but that it will be sent for testing.
Commissioner Kelly has not elaborated on whether the police think Ledger used the rolled up note to take drugs.
