Actor George Clooney says pregnant pal Nicole Kidman will be "a perfect mother". "I'm thrilled for her," Clooney said just hours after Kidman, 40, confirmed she was expecting a child with husband Keith Urban.
"She'll be great."
After a pause, he quipped: "She'll be a tall mother."
The baby will be Kidman's first child with Urban. She has two adopted children, Isabella, 15, and Connor, 12, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
Clooney and Kidman have been close friends since filming 1997's The Peacemaker.
Clooney was speaking out at the Critics' Choice Awards, where he lost the best actor award to Daniel Day Lewis.
"Hey you big loser," Clooney's Ocean's Thirteen pal Casey Affleck teased him.
"You're a loser!"
Clooney, who won a best supporting acting Oscar last year for Syriana, took it all in stride, noting, "[Being] a nominee, it's fine. But when you're a loser, you're a loser."
