Eddie Murphy only tied the knot on New Year's day - but his marital bliss could soon be over, if legal experts in French Polynesia are anything to go by.
Mel B's former lover married 40-year-old fiancée, Tracey Edmonds, on New Year's day on a beach near the Bora Bora Island.
But now a general law expert from the island has warned the couple that their fancy nuptials may not be valid.
According to specialist, Malgras Benoit, couples wishing to marry on the islands must live near the wedding spot for at least 30 days for it to be valid.
He said: "A marriage on the beach would be like… a fake marriage. It's not a real marriage, if it is on the beach with only a local priest."
"I think it was just an exotic, artistic 'marriage."
"You need to have residence for at least 30 days – one month in the island of Bora Bora for instance – and this is not the case," he added.
The lawyer, however, did say there was an exception to the 30 day rule - but if only if the ceremony takes place in the town hall in front of the mayor.
