Midnight Celebrity: Britney Spears’ aunt: “She needs to be on suicide watch”

Britney Spears' aunt revealed the full depths of her family's fears last night - tearfully insisting: "She needs to be on suicide watch."

Chanda McGovern spoke out as her troubled niece fled California on a private jet with her boyfriend from Birmingham - reportedly because she knew her family planned to force her into care.

Spears aunt Chanda added: "I'm truly, truly concerned. I don't think things can get any worse now than us losing her completely.

She is a beautiful, wonderful girl, and it's so hard for me to watch the situation. "I just hope sooner rather than later we can look back and go, 'Wow, did that really happen or was it just a bad dream?'"

Insiders say Spears' parents have been wanting to seek psychiatric help for the star for months.

And they planned a much more heavy-handed approach since Spears left hospital at the weekend following her alarming stand-off with police at her home while refusing to hand over her sons, Sean, 2, and Jayden, 16 months.

Insiders say her loved ones were considering "a number of options," some of which are "creative."

And they have not ruled out trying to get a court order to get Spears forced into care - even though that would mean police having to pick up the superstar if necessary.

As the reports of intervention heightened, Spears jetted out of Los Angeles on a private jet with new boyfriend, paparazzi Adnan Ghalib.

It was unclear last night where they had headed, with many reports saying they jetted into New York.

According to U.S. reports, Britney is terrified after her dad Jamie talked to her about going to a mental facility to get help. "She freaked out and said, 'Now you want me to go to rehab again? I don't need to be locked away!'," an insider told Us Weekly magazine.

A court will not order anyone held unless they are a danger to themselves or someone else. Britney has just been found by the psych ward to be no danger to herself or others, therefore any attempt to get her hospitalized against her will won't work. IF Brit has bi-polar the best way to handle the situation is to get the person she trusts most to talk her into trying the therapy. Even if ordered to take meds most psyche patients with this type of disorder will go off the meds once out of the hospital. I believe that Brit has postpartum Disorder and should be counseled to understand that this is a depression caused by child birth (not caused by something she did)and is not a life long disorder. If her husband at the time was looking out for her best interest rather than using her PPD against her I think she would be fine by now.
