Britney Spears and paparazzo boyfriend: OVER!

Britney SpearsBritney Spears' headline grabbing romance with British paparazzi photographer Adnan Ghalib is over, it has been confirmed.

And, contrary to reports on various websites, OK! magazine claims that the troubled singer did NOT file a restraining order against the photog.

LAPD spokesman Mike Lopez said that the 26-year-old mother of two "has never filed a police report against Adnan Ghalib nor has she requested a restraining order against him."

Britney was spotted without Adnan by her side for the first time since their controversial 'romance' began just before Christmas; Britney was out and about clearly enjoying herself as she stopped by an L.A. Petco store to purchase $100 worth of goodies for her growing collection of pets.

"She was smiling from ear-to-ear," one witness, who spotted Brit shopping with pal Sam Lutfi, said. And if you don't believe the witnesses, take Britney's word for it: "Today's a good day," she told a group of photographers. "I feel great. I'm so happy right now."

Only last week, the troubled 'Gimme More' singer was talking to friends about her desire to have a baby with Adnan. The pair were even snapped looking at pregnancy tests together at a Rite-Aid drugstore on Jan. 14.

We even reported on Sunday that Britney had changed her will to include Adan - a move that would have seen him inherit a large slice of her multi-million dollar fortune.

"Brit sees Adnan as one of the few people in her life she can rely on, even if he was once part of the pack that follows her every move.

"She sees Adnan as a settling and calming influence in her crazy world," a friend told Britain's News of The World newspaper.

Yesterday, photo agency X17 claimed that Britney had invited two of their photographers into her home on Saturday night and showed them a copy of the restraining order against Ghalib.

The document allegedly expressed anger and disappointment towards Adnan Ghalib for 'setting her up' in photographs that he and his agency FinalPixx have sold to newspapers and magazines.

The X17 snappers were apparently invited into Britney's Beverly Hills pad at around 2am on Sunday morning after the singer had been driving around with pal Sam Lufti.

The Toxic star said: "Come with me, let's have fun" and poured glasses of champagne for the photographers, called Roberto and Leandro.

She went outside on her patio to smoke cigarettes, put on some CDs - her own album and Amy Winehouse - and changed into jeans and a pink wig.

Apparently Britney, who was dancing and carrying one of her dogs around, nursed just half a glass of champers for the entire evening.

While the group were chatting, Lufti was said to have taken a piece of paper from his pocket and said: "Look at this."

According to X17online.com, the paper was a restraining order filed by Britney against Ghalib.

The snappers eventually left the singer's pad at 6am.

Los Angeles Police Department said restraining orders were not a police matter and they could not confirm the report.

Reports of the restraining order then prompted Adnan to issue a statement via the Finalpixx website, which said: "All I can say is that I have not been in contact with Britney since early Friday morning. The reason being, that I have had to attend a family funeral in Santa Barbara.

"My phone has been off during this time out of respect for my family. I am only now becoming aware of what is being said. I hope to be back home in Los Angeles soon and to be in contact with Miss Spears."
