Amy Winehouse's dad Mitch has spoken out about his fears over his daughter's friendship with singer Pete Doherty, branding the Babyshambles singer a 'scumbag'. Taxi driver Mitch said he 'apoplectic' to see Amy with the troubled rocker. "I do worry about people like Pete Doherty. I think he's a scumbag," he said.
"I flipped when I saw him with Amy at her Brixton gig. My wife thought I was going to have a heart attack. I've tried talking to Amy, but getting angry won't help," he told Britain's Grazia magazine.
Mitch also revealed that the 'Rehab' singer, 24, also suffers from 'self loathing', adding: 'There are self-image issues, self loathing. We were recently looking at photos of her five years ago, when she was curvy, and she said “I look really happy there”.
I said 'Aren't you happy now darling?' And she said, 'I've been happier'".
Speaking of Amy's troubled marriage, he says: "I know the real problem is she's depressed about Blake being in prison."
"I wasn't in favour of the marriage, but they are married and I will support them, and he's shown while he's been in prison a level of maturity that he didn't have before."
Winehouse is said to be close to breaking point over husband Blake Fielder-Civil's current incarceration. He is locked up in London's Pentonville prison awaiting trial for charges of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice & assault.
