“Tom Cruise’s kids call me Mom,” says Katie Holmes

Dawsons Creek star Katie Holmes has revealed that Tom Cruise's kids call her "Mom".

The 29-year-old actress gushed about her hubby's children with Nicole Kidman, and described Cruise as a great dad. "His first two children are incredible, really smart and kind. They call me 'Mom'," she revealed.

The news is bound to come as a blow to Kidman, who recently moaned that 14-year-old Isabella and 12-year-old Connor only call her "Nicole". "My kids don't call me mommy, they don't even call me mom. They call me Nicole, which I hate and tell them off for it," she recently told UK television show. GMTV.

"When children are teenagers, they have a say in where they want to be. Los Angeles is a big draw, and I'm looking to get a place there so we can share more."

Holmes, who married Cruise in November last year, spoke about her family life in a new interview with Parade magazine. The actress said she was looking forward to spending the Christmas period cooking and skiing in Telluride, Colorado, with Cruise, their baby daughter Suri, and both sides of the family. "Last year was Suri's first Christmas. It was so spectacular to share the holidays with her," she said.

"It really meant the world to me. To be able to create a tradition for your children is one of the best gifts you can have.

"My whole family and Tom's whole family will go up to Telluride again.

"We ski, we have big dinners and laugh. We love cooking. My mom's stuffing is my favorite. I'm a huge fan of pie, especially pecan.

"I will probably cook some garlic mashed potatoes and maybe a cheesecake. We always make a lot of sugar cookies with decorating and sprinkles. Suri will be in the dough everywhere."

Holmes also revealed that her husband was a bit of a whizz in the kitchen. "Tom has shown me the greatness of extra chocolate chips," she said.

"Tom's really good in the kitchen. He makes great pasta carbonara and lemon pasta."

Holmes, who stars alongside Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah in new movie Mad Money, said she and Cruise "have so much fun" as a couple. "Tom has introduced me to so many new experiences," she explained.

"I have done things I never thought I would do, like climbing mountains and flying in the P-51. "That's what is so inspiring about being with him - constant thrills and joy."
