Craig Ferguson gives his striking writers a $30,000 bonus

Craig FergusonChat show host Craig Ferguson is digging deep into his own pockets - and giving his striking writers a $30,000 bonus.

The Scots-born comic is giving each of the ten writers on his CBS The Late, Late Show $3,000, according to reports.

Ferguson's show has been off the air since the Hollywood writer's strike began on November 5.

Their dispute centres on how writers should be compensated for their work when it appears on DVD or the internet.

Also off screens are David Letterman's Late Show, Jay Leno's The Tonight Show and several others, as the walk-out continues.

Ferguson's show is produced by Letterman's Worldwide Pants company. They had no comment, the New York Post reported.

Glasgow-born Ferguson, 45, is in the process of becoming a US citizen.

I think it is very generous of Mr. Ferguson to give his writers each a bonus. I’m sure he appreciates all of his employees and admires anyone that will stand up for what they believe in.
