The boyfriend of pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears wants to marry the teenage starlet, his family has revealed. Casey Aldridge plans to propose to 16-year-old Spears, who announced earlier this week she was expecting his baby.
Spears, the younger sister of troubled singer Britney Spears, has not made any comment since it emerged she was pregnant.
She had split up with 19-year-old Aldridge this summer, but they got back together in the autumn. And Aldrige's pastor uncle, the Reverend Odus Jackson, said the young couple hopes to wed soon.He said: "Jamie Lynn and Casey want to get married. I know Casey does, and he says she does, too.
"He's going this weekend to see his mother for the first time since the news broke publicly.
"I know what he has expressed.
"[Casey] wants to get married and do it as soon as possible. "I don't know what's going to come of it."
Jackson, a Southern Baptist minister, added: "She was here for bow-and-arrow [hunting] season [in early November]. She was with him on some of the hunts. I know because I saw her.
"As far as I know, if there was any breakup, it was at the end of the summer for maybe a hair.
"She was out here with him not too long after he got back."
His comments to a US newspaper appear to contradict a report by a celebrity magazine that said Spears, who stars in US TV show Zoey 101, had already split with her teen lover and there were no plans for a shotgun wedding.
Sources told Life & Style magazine: "Jamie Lynn and Casey are NOT together. "They've broken up numerous times, but he was her first, and she kept taking him back. "They're not dating now. He's really got nothing to offer this baby. He's a kid himself. They have no plans to get married."
The source also said Britney's sister isn't planning on having Aldrige in the room when she gives birth. "At this point, Jamie Lynn has asked her mom [sic] - and not Casey - to be in the delivery room with her," the source said.
But TV show Access Hollywood also reported that Aldridge is desperate to get hitched, despite disapproval from Spears' family. An insider said: "[Jamie Lynn] has the mind of a teenager. She doesn't understand the ramifications. She's just a child with not a lick of sense."
It is not clear how long the pair has been dating. In mid-November, Spears told reporters she was single. She said then: "I kind of just keep my options open."I have a bunch of friends that I always hang out with, a bunch of guy friends."
But Spears told OK! magazine this week that she broke the news of her surprise pregnancy to family just before that interview. It comes amid reports Aldridge could face statutory rape charges over his relationship with his young girlfriend.
