The ‘Terminator’ star - whose term as the governor of California ends in January 2011, has already asked a number of script writers to come up with ideas to help him kick-start his film career.
A source said: "Quite a few of the writers who are on strike in Hollywood at the moment are claiming that Arnold’s people have been sounding them out about ideas.
"He wants to be prepared for the time when his political career comes to an end and he’s already started thinking about it seriously. He believes there will be room for him in the movie business and still sees himself as a big star."
Schwarzenegger’s spokesman would only comment: "He may go back to the movies".
60-year-old Arlnold’s last high-profile role came with ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’ in 2003.
In October 2003 he was elected as governor of California for the Republican party, before winning re-election in November last year.
