Amy Winehouse arrested

Amy WinehouseTroubled British singer Amy Winehouse was arrested in London on Monday in connection with a trial fixing plot involving her husband - Blake Fielder-Civil, it has been reported.

A police spokesman said: "A 24-year-old woman has been arrested by appointment at an East London police station. "She is currently in custody. The arrest was in connection with an investigation into perverting the course of justice."

A rep for 'Rehab' singer Winehouse said: "I can confirm that she did go in voluntarily to be interviewed and was placed under arrest, as is common practice in the U.K., before being questioned."

Amy's arrest relates a witness-tampering charge for Amy's husband Fielder-Civil, 25, who currently stands accused of assaulting a barman in June. He is currently locked up in London's Pentonville prison where he awaits trial.

As it currently stands, British custom police do not name people who are arrested – only if they are later charged with a crime.

Winehouse was forced to give fingerprints and a saliva swab to police. "Any person arrested is required to give both DNA and fingerprints," says the police spokeswoman.
