Britney Spears didn't have the best year in 2007 - she shaved her hair, paid several visits to rehab, gave a disastrous, now infamous performance at the VMAs - and saw the start of the bitter legal battle between herself and ex-husband Kevin Federline - but it seems the troubled 'Gimme More' star will be putting an end to a terrible year by spending New Year's with her two young sons - and her new paparazzi boyfriend Adnan Ghalib, who, sources claim, happens to be a married man!
A source close to the the Spears family told America's OK! magazine that Britney and Adnan - who hit the headlines last week when he stayed overnight with the singer in her Beverly Hills hotel room, and her two boys, Sean Preston, 2, and 1-year-old Jayden James, are spending New Year's Eve at a private beachfront residence near Dana Point, Calif. The source claims that they will also be joined by a court-appointed monitor, responsible for overseeing all of the boys' visits with their troubled mom.
While Adnan recently claimed that he and Britney were only having "lunch" during their overnight visit, he has been telling a different story to his pals. "He was bragging last week that the night he spent with her at the Peninsula was 'the best night of his life,'" one insider reveals to the publication.
The insider spoke about the photogs intentions, saying: "He's always played her knight in shining armor. Not just because he's a gentleman, but because he's a true mercenary."
The source recalls one recent incident where Britney was hiding inside of a locked utility closet in a Target store in Culver City, Calif. "He told me that the reason he talked to her through the door and convinced her to let him escort her to her car was because if she were to leave the store through the back loading dock, he wouldn't get good photos."

Amy Winehouse’s husband shaves off his hair to fit in with prison inmates
Amy Winehouse's incarcerated husband Blake Fielder-Civil has reportedly shaved off all his hair in a desperate attempt to "fit in" with his prison inmates.
The 25-year-old bad boy - who's locked up in London's Pentonville prison on charges of allegedly assaulting a barman & perverting the course of justice, took a razor to his locks - and was seen with nicks all over his skull.
Blake, who is struggling to cope inside, fearing attacks by other lags — is also learning jail slang in an attempt to be chummy.
According to reports, Fielder-Civil was heard begging his 24-year-old wife Amy for help during one of her last visits. A lag said: "Blake was screaming at Amy, ‘I can’t cope! There must be something you can do to get me out’.”
He added: “Christmas is always grim but Blake is finding it particularly bad. He shaved his head and had razor nicks all over it.
“He looks awful. He tells everyone he’s going back to his ‘peter,’ which is Cockney slang for cell. He wants to be accepted.”
Last week, it was revealed that Pete was seeking prison advice from Pete Doherty. A friend said: “Blake feels very vulnerable. As well as threats he faces in jail, he fears Amy’s friends will use his time in prison to come between them and try to split them up.
“He has asked Pete to look after Amy and fight his corner to make sure he doesn’t get shut out.
“Pete has a soft spot for Blake, who has always idolised him, and has promised to do his best.”

Big Brother’s Celebrity Hijack thrown into crisis
New Big Brother show 'Celebrity Hijack' has reportedly been thrown into crisis - just day's before it's due to begin.
Producers are in crisis talks, and are said to be worried that the chosen celebrities are too outlandish while the housemates may be too boring.
The new Channel 4 show - a replacement to the controversial Celebrity Big Brother – sees twelve youngsters who all have a special talent, competing for a prize totaling £50,000.
The participating celebrities are rumored to include Joan Rivers, Ian Wright and 'Little Britain' star Matt Lucas - who will all take on the role of Big Brother and control the housemates.
According to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, Celebrity Hijack producers were hoping that the housemates would become the real stars of the show - which will be hosted by Dermot O'Leary, however a series of trials with "guinea pigs" proved to be disastrous as the celebrities were far more entertaining.
The problems came about when bosses took their attempts to "dull down" the show - a step too far.
Now, the show's makers are desperately trying to liven up the show ahead of its launch later this week.
Matt Lucas and comedian Jimmy Carr expected to appear on the show.
Channel 4 have even considered "gagging" the celebrities in a bid to stop them from stealing the limelight.
An insider revealed: "Basically the problem was the celebrities totally out-shone and overshadowed the contestants.
"They were much more entertaining than the housemates. Now there are some very worried people around.
"Would you rather see and listen to the likes of Jimmy Carr and Matt Lucas or a young unknown who's good at chess or plays the violin?
"Staff will work around the clock tweaking the show to make sure it works well."
Bosses are now thought to be considering sending the stars into the house in a last-ditch attempt to save the show.
Last night, a spokesperson for Channel 4 said: "There's no panic! – the show will be brilliant."

Kerry Katona hires private detective to find her real dad
Former Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona has reportedly hired a private detective to track down her real father - after a bus driver claimed he was her real dad.
49-year-old John Dowd claimed that he had a short affair with Kerry’s mum Sue around 28 years ago.
But since then, several other men have come forward claiming to be 27-year-old Kerry's father.
Kerry said of John: “He looks nothing like me. He looks like another one of them storytellers. I’ve hired a private investigator to find my real dad so I guess I’ll find out soon.”
The troubled star also said she may take a DNA test “to shut him up”.
Meanwhile, Kerry has apparently threatened to evict her mother from the home she bought for her - after being faced with a costly tax bill, warning her by text message "I'm putting the house up for sale."
Kerry bought the £95,000 two-bedroom terrace in Warrington, Cheshire, for her mum when she hit the big time - and has let jobless Susan, 47, live there rent-free ever since.
But the property is still in Kerry's name and she is desperately looking for assets to sell to pay the first £200,000 chunk of a £700,000 tax bill.
A source close to Katona's mum, said: "Susan is panicking. She's in bits and doesn't know where she'll end up."
Katona - who was previously married to former Westlife singer Brian McFadden, disowned her mum after Susan branded her an out-of-control cokehead. Kerry then banned her from seeing her granddaughters.

Comedian Rob Brydon suffered stage fright when he found himself using the toilet while Prince Harry waited outside.

"I leaned forward and there was this moment that went on forever and then we kissed.
"We kissed and we kissed and we kissed. It went on for hours and come five o'clock the dogs needed a walk because they needed a wee.

Jackass star Stevo says he wants to kill George Bush
Foul-mouthed Jackass star Stevo says he wants to kill George Bush, revealed he's facing more assault charges, challenged K-Fed to a "rap war" and urged the paparazzi to ease off Britney Spears.
He flew into a bizarre rant in front of snappers as he left a Miami nightclub with his girlfriend - and joked he would beat them up if they didn't take his picture.
The British-born daredevil rapper spoke out from a cab outside trendy South Beach venue Set, but quickly took back his presidential threat saying he was "just a rapper".
Hurling a string of expletives, Stevo shouted: "F**k George Bush, I'll kill him. "Is that illegal? Nah dude, anyone in their right mind would kill that f*****g mutha-f****r.
"I don't think that's illegal no more. "Nah, I'm not killing anyone I'm just a rapper - you know what rap is, it's just art!"
Love Island star Stevo, 33, who famously stapled his scrotum to his leg in a stunt known as 'The Butterfly', then claimed he's signed a deal with Universal Records before laying into pop-wreck Britney's ex-husband Kevin Federline. "You guys ease out on Britney Spears," he told photographers. "Hey, wait until you hear my K-Fed diss-track.
"He's gonna have to diss me back right? Like anyone wants to hear his ass rap.
"I said I wanted to get him on my album, I've got a Universal record deal. F*****g asshole didn't call me back so I dissed his ass. "Whole f*****g song - f**k K-Fed. Are you ready for this rap war?"
Ahead of his off-the-wall rant, Stevo - who's previously been arrested over battery, drug smuggling and urinating in public - also mouthed off about troubled Rehab singer Amy Winehouse. "It's been a big year for me and f*****g Amy Winehouse - and I don't know about her but I aint f*****g sorry," he laughed.
He then started rapping: "I beat paparazzi like Tommy Lee if they don't take a picture of me.
"I throw them around the block like Kid Rock if I don't see flash bulbs go off.
"I'll kick your mother f*****g asses if you don't take my picture."

JK Rowling speaks out about the depression that inspired her to write Harry Potter books
Best-selling author JK Rowling has spoken out about the depression and difficult childhood that inspired her to write the Harry Potter books.
At one point she suffered so severely with depression that she woke every morning expecting to find her baby daughter dead.
Joanne Rowling made the revelation after agreeing to let a film crew follow her for a year in the life of documentary during the release of her latest novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. She admitted the Harry Potter series began as an attempt to reclaim her childhood and even ends the series by giving Harry Potter a family.
She said: "I was very frightened of my father for a very long time and also tried desperately to get his approval and make him happy.
" Then there came a point I couldn't do that any more so I haven't had any contact with my father now for a few years."
Rowling's mother Anne was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when Rowling was 15 and died in 1990 completely unaware of the success her daughter was about to become.
The mother of three admits her mother's painful death influenced her writing. "It has seeped into every part of the books," she said. "She would have odd losses of feelings in limbs, her balance was poor for a long time and then it got worse and worse and she decided it was time to visit the doctor.
"She had a very virulent form of the illness and at that time there were no drug treatments at all."
The hit author opened her heart by admitting she regrets not seeing her mother's body before her funeral.
"I wanted to see her but my father didn't want me to see her and I mistakenly agreed not to," she said. "I deeply regret that. I really wish I'd seen her. It didn't matter what she looked like. It would have made thing easier."
Depression hit Rowling when her first marriage to a television journalist broke down after just two years. She had moved to Portugal to teach English and gave birth to her first daughter Jessica. She said: "I'd had a short and quite catastrophic marriage. "I had to get my baby back to Britain and re-build us a life and adrenaline kept me going.
"It was only when I came to rest it hit me what a complete mess I had made of my life. That hit me quite hard.
"We were as skint as you can be without being homeless and at that point I was definitely clinically depressed.
"That was characterised my a numbness, a coldness and an inability to believe you will feel happy again. All the colour drained out of life."
Rowling hit an all-time low when she convinced herself something awful was destined to happen to her two-year-old daughter. She said: "I loved Jessica very very much and was terrified something was going to happen to her. "I'd gone into that very depressive mind set where everything has gone wrong so this one good thing in my life will now go wrong as well.
"It was almost a surprise to me every morning that she was still alive. I kept expecting her to die. It was a bad bad time."
Film crews took Rowling back to the flat a few miles from Edinburgh where she overcame depression by writing first novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Tears began to flow as she walked into the small lounge room where she first put pen to paper.
She said: "This is really where I turned my life around completely. My life changed so much in this flat.
"I feel I really became myself here. Everything was stripped away. I'd made such a mess of things. I just thought I want to write so I wrote the book. What was the worst that could happen? It could get turned down by every publisher in Britain. Big deal."
As she walked into the bedroom she spotted the whole Harry Potter series on the current owner's bookshelf. "If it all disappeared this is where I would come back to," she said. "Because it's such a well worn part of my story now it's a big yawn to hear how I wrote it as if it was some publicity stunt I did for a year, but it was my life and it was very hard.
"I didn't know it was going to be this fairy tale resolution. Coming back here is just full of ghosts."
Rowling revealed how she wished to be a writer since her childhood but says she never expected the fame that has come with it. "I wished to be published and I wished more than anything in the world to be a writer," she said. "It never occurred to me in a million years that people would search my dustbins, put a long lens camera on me on the beach or bang on the door of one of my oldest friends and offer her money to talk about me."
Rowling has ruled out writing any more Harry Potter books but let slip she is working on a new novel. "It's definitely time to stop now. I don't want to write any more Hogwarts books," she said.
"I'm happier now than I've ever been in my life."
Rowling described her new novel as a political fairy tale. She said: "I'm not in a mad hurry to publish, I would like to take my time. I've lived with deadlines for ten years and I'm currently able to luxuriate that no one's really expecting it so I feel as if I've gone right back to the beginning where I was with the Philospher's Stone in my own private world.
"I'd really like to enjoy that sole possession for a little while," she said on ITV's JK Rowling, A Year in the Life.

Daniel Radcliffe to star in a new war movie.
Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe has signed to star in new war movie 'Journey', in which he will portray tragic photographer Dan Eldon, who was stoned to death during the devastating civil war in Somalia, East Africa, in 1993.
According to reports, the 18-year-old actor - best known for playing the boy wizard in the Potter films, fought off stiff competition from likes of Heath Ledger, Joaquin Phoenix, Ryan Phillippe and Orlando Bloom to land the role, after Eldon's family decided he would be a perfect fit for the part.
The late photographer's mother Kathy revealed: "We resisted a lot of older actors because Dan was a boy emerging into manhood. The timing is right and the person is right and I couldn't ask for more.
"He has portrayed a magician for years and my Dan was a different kind of magician. There are parallels in the two Dans' lives.
"Daniel Radcliffe is a poet, he keeps journals and he is half Jewish. He has a sense of humor and energy inside him which reminds me of Dan."
Eldon was just 22 when he was killed in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu.
The film is based on his diaries 'The Journey is the Destination', which were published in 1997.

Rihanna says fame makes her feel lonely and unhappy
Singer Rihanna says fame has made her feel lonely and unhappy.
The 'Umbrella' songstress , 19, revealed her rapid rise to fame and success has exposed her to the dark side of celebrity.
She said: "Fame is lonely. At first, I was on an adrenaline high - this is my dream. I'm actually doing it, it didn't phase me that I was alone, that I wasn't with the people I love. But after a while it gets repetitive and that is when you think, 'Oh wow, I am sitting in a hotel room once again, just me and the television.'
"When you are in the spotlight, people are like, 'What do you have to worry about?' They forget that the success is one great aspect of your life, but behind that there are problems, there are dark sides, there is loneliness and unhappiness."
The singer - who is rumored to be dating actor Josh Hartnett, also admits that she has struggled to make real friends in the music industry - because she hasn't been able to trust anyone.
The singer, famous for annoying the world with the lyrics "You can stand under my Umbrella, Ella ella eh eh eh," added: "In this business people are shallow, they are dishonest. You can't trust them.
"I have always had a thing for reading people. When I come into contact with a situation or a person, the first thing I do is just sit quiet for a little while. I sit and watch you.
"It really helps me to understand how to play the game, and sometimes you have to play it. It is a game that really sucks."

Heather Mills to sell her East Sussex mansion?
Heather Mills, the estranged wife of music legend Sir Paul McCartney is reportedly set to sell her $6million East Sussex mansion in order to pay her huge legal bills.
The former glamor model and animal rights activist - who is currently locked in a bitter divorce battle with McCartney, 65, owes a reported $3million to law firm Mishcon de Reya and could lose her property in order to settle the debt.
A source said: "Heather is telling friends that relations have broken down so badly between her and her former lawyers Mishcon de Reya she will have to sell the house Paul bought her to pay the legal bills. Mishcon de Reya are poised to serve with a writ for the cash."
The source added to Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper: "This Christmas she has been facing up to losing the house."
The former Beatle bought the nine-bedroom property for Heather earlier this year, because it is close to his own East Sussex home and he wants regular access to the couple's four-year-old daughter Beatrice.
39-year-old Heather - dubbed 'Mucca' by British tabloids due to her porn past, reportedly plans to put the house up for sale in January.
Mills - who could be awarded more than $60 million in her divorce settlement - claims financial strain forced her to part ways with Mishcon de Reya.
Heather's representative Michele Elyzabeth said: "It was agreed between them both that she would suspend her representation from the firm due to financial reasons and that she was capable of representing herself."
However, Mishcon de Reya allegedly ditched her after she viciously attacked Paul in a series of UK and US TV interviews.
Heather and Paul will be back in court in February.

Jude Law haunted by the ghost of Frank Sinatra
Actor Jude Law claims he was haunted by the ghost of Frank Sinatra during a recent visit to Cuba.
The 'Alfie' star, 35, said that he was left "shocked" after seeing a vision of the late Rat Pack singer raiding his hotel mini-bar after celebrating his 35th birthday at Havana's Hotel Nacional de Cuba on Saturday last week.
A hotel insider said: "Jude had no idea that Frank used to stay in the same room. You could see he was really spooked by his sighting. He'd sampled lots of the hotels rum cocktails to celebrate his birthday so he thought it was just a drunken vision. But when we told him of the situation, he came clean about seeing the ghost.
"He swore he saw Frank crouched at the mini-bar, rummaging through the bottles and snacks."
The source added to Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Poor old Jude was relieved when we finally put him in a different room, although we didn't dare tell him that Winston Churchill used to stay in it, just in case.
"We didn't want Jude to worry about the former British Prime Minister stealing his cigars!"
Jude spent Christmas at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba with ex-wife Sadie Frost and their children Rafferty, 11, Iris, seven, Rudy, five and Frost's 17-year-old son Finlay.
They have now added their holiday pictures to the hotel's Bar Of Fame, and have drawn an arrow from their pictures to those of Sinatra.

Lisa Kudrow: motherhood is ‘all surprises’
Former friends star Lisa Kudrow has revealed she has found being a mum "all surprises".
44-year-old Kudrow, best known for her role as Phoebe Buffay in the popular television sitcom, has a nine-year-old son, Julian, with husband Michael Stern.
And the actress - who also starred in critically acclaimed HBO TV series The Comeback - doesn't seem to have trouble balancing raising her child with her fast-paced acting career.
"It's not hard to juggle at all," she said.
"My son is older so I don't get those heart-wrenching calls saying, 'Where are you?'. But if I were to go back and do something like The Comeback, which was a solid year working every day - that would be hard."
"Motherhood is all surprises," she adds. "Nobody can really anticipate what parenthood is. It's been wonderful surprises and then tough surprises and a huge transition but hopefully I've adjusted."
Lisa also had to adjust to life after Friends, probably the most popular TV comedy in the world in the 1990s.
"I look back on Friends fondly," she says. "We all still keep in touch although we don't see each other a lot. I miss certain things about the show like not being with those people every single day.
"It was a really happy good experience. And it's done, so we have to just move on. There are no regrets."

The singer - who is embroiled in a bitter legal battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, who she divorced earlier this year, has lost custody of her own sons - Sean Preston, two and 15-month-old Jayden James - and is now only permitted supervised court visits with her kids if she passes random drug and alcohol testing.
But Britney is still furious that her younger sister has got pregnant by her 19-year-old boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.
Brit reportedly fumed: "I'm really disappointed in her. I told her over and over just to be a kid and let the adult things like sex and drinking and all that wait.
"I just can't believe she's pregnant. She is way too young to be a mom. She should be having fun and stuff, not having a baby."

Lindsay Lohan has “the year’s worst performance by an actress”
Moviegoers have tagged troubled Lindsay Lohan with the year's worst performance by an actress.
In a new AOL poll, a whopping 58% of voters gave Lohan the dubious honor for her role as a woman escaping a sadistic killer in the box-office flop, "I Know Who Killed Me."
The poll, which received more than 3.8 million votes, had more bad news for the 'Mean Girls' actress - with another of her films, "Georgia Rule," finishing second among voters for biggest waste of $10 spent on a movie ticket.
The No. 1 biggest waste? "Norbit," a slapstick comedy starring Eddie Murphy, whose performance in the movie was the runaway pick for worst by an actor.
Voters were given five choices in each poll category. Two box-office smashes were voted the most worthy of the price of a ticket: The blood-soaked ancient war epic "300 edged out the sci-fi extravaganza "Transformers," 28 percent to 26 percent.
"Transformers" stars Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf were named best on-screen duo, barely beating out Michael Cera and Jonah Hill, the nerdy leads of the comic coming-of-age romp "Superbad."
"Superbad" made more voters laugh out loud than any other film, registering 37 percent of the tally, ahead of the 28 percent for the bawdy pregnancy comedy "Knocked Up." Both comedy blockbusters were from producer Judd Apatow.
Sexiest babe went to Fox of "Transformers," while hottest hunk went to Johnny Depp, from "Pirates of the Caribbean."
Ralph Fiennes' dark turn as Voldemort in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" earned him best male villain honors. Angelina Jolie won best female villain for playing the mother of the demon Grendel in "Beowulf."
Voters gave Matt Damon the nod for best two performances for "Ocean's Thirteen" and "The Bourne Ultimatum," the latter of which easily nabbed year's best sequel.

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills have blazing row on Boxing Day
Paul McCartney and Heather Mills reportedly had a blazing argument on Boxing Day - after Paul bought their 4-year-old daughter Beatrice home an hour late.
The couple - who are currently embroiled in a bitter legal dispute over cash, came to blows after the 65-year-old former Beatle allegedly failed to drop off four-year-old Beatrice at the agreed time of 5pm.
Fuming Heather and visiting family and friends were left waiting for Beatrice to arrive without any explanation.
A source said: "They arranged for him to have Bea between 2pm and 5pm but he didn't arrive until 6pm - and didn't even ring to let her know he was running late.
"Heather wasn't happy. She had people round to see Bea and it didn't leave much time until she had to be in bed. She made it patently clear she wasn't happy. She thought it was incredibly inconsiderate and rude."
Paul and Heather are due in court in February and sources close to the pair say custody will be a big issue.
The insider added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Paul has made it clear he wants custody of Bea, particularly after Heather's recent volatile appearances on TV and her claims she felt suicidal. They also have very differing views on how Bea should be schooled. Paul wants her to go to a school where she will come home every night but Heather thinks she will enjoy the experience of being a boarder."
The insider also played down speculation that Heather will sell her $6.5million East Sussex mansion.
The friend said: "She did threaten to move to America after one row when Paul asked why she had to live so close to his place at Peasmarsh but it isn't happening at the moment."
Meanwhile, former animal rights activist Heather, 39, will throw a lavish New Year's Eve party tonight - and has even invited X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne.
The source continued: "Heather knows Paul and Sharon are good friends so she did it to wind him up. She doesn't really expect her to come." Heather has also invited friends from US show Dancing With The Stars to the buffet and fireworks party.
