The LAPD has denied that they swooped on Britney Spears' Beverly Hills mansion because there was a gun in the house. A spokesperson for the LAPD said: "There was no gun involved - that's the first we've heard of this."
It had been reported that Britney's ex-husband Kevin Federline made a call to the Police claiming the singer had a firearm and would shoot dead their two sons.
It is believed that Kevin Federline feared his ex would use a Beretta 92FS pistol he bought her as a birthday gift to murder Sean Preston, 2 and Jayden James, 1. That prompted Federline to make a desperate call to the cops who arrived with a specialist SWAT team in a dramatic three-hour siege on Thursday evening.
But the Los Angeles Police department has said that WASN'T the reason why the cops were called.
An LAPD rep said: "The police were called out to Britney Spears' residence to investigate custody issues over her children - not because there was a gun in the house."
Britney, 26, was thrust into the spotlight in spectacular fashion last week, after she was hospitalized on Thursday night.
The troubled singer was restrained and rushed to the Cedar's Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, with cops suspecting she was under the influence of drugs.
The LA Police Department were called after Britney locked herself in the bathroom with youngest son Jayden James and refused to hand him over to ex-hubby Kevin Federline.
On Friday the singer was stripped of her rights to visit her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, who are living with Federline.
The order will remain in place until another hearing when the custody battle continues on January 14th.
