It turns out Mel B and Eddie Murphy's "great love affair" wasn't all that "great" - they only had sex three times!
But incredibly, those two nights of passion were enough to get Mel B pregnant, put an end to their whirlwind romance & spark one of Hollywood's biggest and most bitter legal bust-ups.
Now, for the first time, a family insider close to the 'Nutty Professor' star has revealed the intense bitterness and hatred between the couple, and sensationally claimed:
"Mel said all the problems would go away if Eddie agreed to her demands for a $9million house in Malibu plus living expenses for 18 years."
In an interview with Britain's News Of The World newspaper, the insider revealed: "Mel might have been in love with Eddie but he was certainly not in love with her.
"Mel did not live at his house although she told people she did.
"And it wasn't a passionate relationship. They slept together just three times.
"That's why he was stunned when she announced she was pregnant after they split. He truly did not believe it was his child. As they only had sex a few times, and she'd promised she had a contraceptive coil fitted, Eddie was certain it couldn't be his."
The insider then goes on to reveal that since DNA tests proved that Eddie, 46, did father child, he is now convinced the Spice Girl had wanted a baby with him all along.
The source added: "Right from the moment she was introduced to Eddie she was infatuated and started to tell her friends she was going to marry him.
"It was clear Mel was desperate to be like Posh Spice and wanted a high profile catch like David Beckham.
"She wanted the fame and the fortune and more than anything she wanted a wealthy, A-list husband.
"Getting involved with Mel was the worst mistake Eddie ever made and he'll regret it for the rest of his life.
"He's eaten away by bitterness and is convinced she's trying to ruin him.
"Of course he will pay to support Angel—at the moment it's $15,000 a month—but he refuses to be part of her life right now because he doesn't want anything to do with Mel.
"Things got so ugly between them Eddie even had his lawyer sent her lawyer a letter accusing her of extortion—he thinks she's been rubbishing his name in order to make him cave in to her outlandish financial demands."
The letter allegedly spells out Mel's multi-million dollar terms and accuses the singer of a "smear" campaign against Eddie.
The source added that that alarm bells had been ringing for the actor even before Mel announced she was expecting his baby.
"On one of their very first dates Mel told Eddie she fantasied about having a threesome with a woman she knew from Los Angeles.
"Eddie just could not believe how forward she was in suggesting that.
"It was clear she had a very strong sexual appetite.
"But Eddie's a complete germophobe and his fear of catching something would never allow him to have sex with a stranger, so that was never going to happen."
Eddie - whose brief marriage to Tracey Edmonds came to an abrupt end earlier this month due his alleged 'Jekyll and Hyde' persona, is convinced Mel deliberately planned to have their baby on his birthday just to spite him.
The source said: "Angel was due on April 15th but Eddie's birthday is on April 3rd and he firmly believes she purposely made an appointment to have a premature Cesarean section so that she could give birth that day.
"He says Mel wanted to have another tie to him and this was her sick way of doing it.
"Now he says he'll never again be able to enjoy his birthday as he'll just be thinking of all the hurt she's caused him.
"It's all so sad because there's an innocent little girl involved here but Eddie is adamant that the two of them mean nothing to him—and I can't see a time when he'll ever forgive Mel.
"Eddie says when Angel is old enough to start asking about her dad, then he'll meet her. But only if that ever happens.
"He's still so angry and I think he always will be."
