Jamie Lynn Spears, the pregnant 16-year-old sister of Britney Spears has the support of the 'Gimme More' star's ex-husband Kevin Federline, it has been revealed. Sources close to the Spears and Federline families told America's OK! magazine that Kevin, who was married to Britney for two years, but is now embroiled in a bitter legal battle with the star, has reached out to his former sister-in-law and her mother Lynne as they face the ordeal of being in the scandal spotlight.
"Kevin has long thought of Jamie Lynn as a little sister," a Federline family member told OK!. 29-year-old Federline reportedly spoke with Lynne before the baby news hit the headlines and, according to the source, "he was heartbroken because he was concerned about what it would mean for Jamie Lynn's future." But now that the dust has begun to settle, "he just wants to be part of the support system."
Meanwhile, troubled Britney, 26, has blamed herself for her sister's pregnancy, allegedly telling friends: "I've done some pretty dumb stuff and haven't been a good role model. I warned this girl, I really did. She seemed to take my advice."
She is also quoted as saying: "I'm really disappointed in her. I told her over and over just to be a kid and let the adult things like sex and drinking and all that wait.
"I just can't believe she's pregnant. She is way too young to be a mom. She should be having fun and stuff, not having a baby."
