Eddie Murphy confirms he won’t be legally marrying Tracey Edmonds

Eddie Murphy and Tracey EdmondsHollywood superstar Eddie Murphy has confirmed that he won't be legally marrying Tracey Edmonds amid reports they have split just two weeks after a "spiritual" wedding.

US reports claimed the couple had broken up after a string of blazing rows on their honeymoon.

Murphy and Tracey were not officially married following the New Year's Day ceremony on a private island near Bora Bora in French Polynesia.

They had been planning a legally binding ceremony in America.
But Murphy announced in a statement the plans had been scrapped, saying the couple have "decided to remain friends".

He said: "After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forego having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further.

"While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends."

Tracey's manager was unavailable for comment.

Murphy and Tracey's honeymoon was "marred by screaming matches and arguments that lasted the entire week", according to US reports.

Murphy, 46, got engaged to Tracey, 40, in July.

He has five children from his previous marriage to Nicole Mitchell Murphy, who filed for divorce in 2005.

He also has a baby daughter with Spice Girl Mel B, but refused to acknowledge he was the father until it was proved by paternity tests.

Tracey has two sons from her 12-year marriage to R&B singer Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds.
