Britney Spears causes mayhem at court

Britney Spears Troubled pop wreck Britney Spears caused mayhem at court as she arrived for a hearing in her child custody dispute - then decided not to go in.

Britney arrived at the Los Angeles Superior Court in a blacked out 44 with her British paparazzo boyfriend Adnan Ghalib. Hundreds of photographers saw the vehicle arrive and start heading into an underground car park before it inexplicably turned around and left.

The car drove in circles around the courthouse followed by police and shutterbugs.

Los Angeles police and sheriffs officers were left fuming after having put on a huge operation to ensure public safety during her arrival. "She was due in at 1.30pm but when she got here at about 1.15pm she saw all the photographers and said she didn't want to go in.

"The sheriff had told her where to park but she decided she could park anywhere she wanted."

At one point she was seen stopping the vehicle jumping out of the back seat and swapping seats with the driver before swapping back. "Then the car turned around and drove her back home," said an onlooker.

The 'Toxic' singer had been warned that she must attend the hearing if she wanted to stand a chance of seeing her children before APRIL. Attorneys acting for Kevin Federline said they would be asking the judge in charge of the case to maintain the current order that allows Britney no visitation whatsoever with her sons.

K-Fed's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan has described the hearing as 'the most significant hearing in the case so far.'

Testimony at the hearing was heard behind closed doors. It was expected to include evidence and reports from police and emergency medical staff that were called to Spears' Hollywood mansion two weeks ago in a standoff involving her refusal to return the children to Federline.

After that incident Britney was forcibly hospitalized by authorities who were fearful of her mental state. Attorneys for Federline, 29, used evidence about the incident to persuade a judge to temporarily revoke her visitation rights with sons Jayden James, 1, and Sean Preston, 2.

Brit was released by hospital staff the following day but shocked her family and friends by immediately leaving the U.S. for an overnight stay in Mexico with her British paparazzi boyfriend Adnan Ghalib. Britney currently has no visitation rights with her sons.

Lawyers for Federline said before the hearing that they have no idea whether Britney would show up. "I don't know if she will be there," Kaplan said. If she does turn up, Kaplan said she would be expected to testify.

"She will have the opportunity to persuade the court that she can have some visitation under monitored conditions.

"These are very, very draconian orders in place. Because of that the court wanted to have a hearing to give her and her attorneys the opportunity to refute some of the declarations." Kaplan added: "No judge likes making orders terminating a person's involvement with their kids."

She visited the Little Brown Church on Coldwater Canyon Avenue in the Hollywood Hills where she placed a note into a box called a "God can" - a place at the front of the church for worshippers to place prayers.

A church worker said: "Britney came in and placed a note in the God can at the front of our chapel.

"The God can contains the prayers and concerns of our parishioners."

The Little Brown Church is a non-denominational Christian church.
