Britney Spears is obviously a very troubled young woman - but few people knew the extent of the Toxic singer's anguish - until now. Days before the 26-year-old mother of two was sensationally rushed to a Los Angeles hospital, she left a suicide note, according to an insider.
The note was reportedly left on her bathroom counter, where it was later found by her assistant Sam Lutfi. "The letter was very sad," a friend tells In Touch magazine. "It was filled with reasons why she shouldn't live, included lines from poems about death. She said in it she was sorry for never making her life what everyone else wanted. She mentioned how lonely and unfair life could be, how peaceful death seems and how your mind would finally be at ease." The friend adds, "She went on and on about wanting to just rest in peace."
Meanwhile, Spears stunned staff at a swanky clothing store by stripping off completely naked.
The pop wreck disappeared into a changing room with Brit paparazzo boyfriend Adnan Ghalib - but emerged stark naked. When shocked workers rushed to cover the serial flasher up, Britney screamed: "Don't you f***ing come near me!"
The fallen pop princess then headed back into the changing room with Adnan for 45 minutes. Staff told how they could hear the shameless couple "making weird noises".
Britney spoke in a fake British accent and muttered "F*** you!" as she left the upmarket Betsey Johnson store in Sherman Oaks, California.
One employee told US magazine Life & Style how they were confronted by a nude Britney as the chart-topper hit the shops on Sunday. The worker said: "I was blown away. Britney's private parts were right in front of me!
"I grabbed a dress to cover her and she screamed, 'Get away from me! Don't you f***ing come near me!'
"Then she disappeared in the dressing room with Adnan for 45 minutes.
"They were making weird noises. It was disgusting."
