Troubled singer Amy Winehouse is getting a feather tattoo in a desperate bid "find strength," it has been revealed. The 24-year-old 'Rehab' singer, who has struggled to cope since her husband Blake Fielder-Civil was locked up and sent to London's Pentonville prison last November, is set to add the large Native American eagle feather to her sizable collection of body art.
The songstress - who's due to perform at the Grammy Awards next month, believes that having the symbol inked across her shoulders will help to boost her confidence and keep her safe while Blake is in jail.
A source said: "Amy already has a Native American feather on her inner arm because it symbolizes courage, strength and spirituality but she somehow feels it let her down as she has lost her courage and strength.
"So she has asked a well-known tattooist in Camden Town, north London, to design a much bigger one for her shoulders. The feather is symbolic to Native Americans of prayers rising to the heavens."
The newly blond singer, whose body art already includes a shirt pocket with the word 'Blake's' on her chest and several etchings of ladies and hearts on her arms, believes the new tattoo will also help her focus on her career.
The source added: "It is a desperate attempt to find strength to deal with her situation, which she knows is spinning out of control."
Blake, who is currently awaiting trial on charges of perverting the course of justice and grievous bodily harm, has reportedly turned to God and is seeing the prison chaplain every day.
