Rod Stewart’s son turns out for assault case hearing

Sean StewartSuperstar singer Rod Stewart's bad-boy son Sean seemed to have lost his voice yesterday after the latest hearing in his assault case.

The 27-year-old dressed up like a rock star for what was listed as a pre-trial hearing at the Criminal Courts Building in LA. But he had nothing to say as he left the court with his head bowed after his attorney was granted a final continuance.

Stewart, who is due to return to court next month, is accused of attacking Tobalus and Ericka Stein at a Hollywood Hills party in April 2007. The couple have also filed a lawsuit against him, claiming assault, battery and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

They claim Stewart and others riding in a Rolls-Royce Phantom confronted them, then began punching and throwing bricks at them and their car outside the party.

Stewart, dressed in a jacket, jeans and trainers, only spoke once during the brief hearing to acknowledge he understands his right to a speedy trial.

He kept his head bowed except when addressing the judge. Wayward Stewart was also sued in July by Daniel Refoua, who alleged assault, battery, false imprisonment, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Refoua also has named Stewart's veteran rocker dad Rod Stewart and James "Country" Davis as defendants.

Rod has been named because Davies is said to have been his bodyguard and was allegedly at the scene of the incident.

Refoua's suit claims tewart and others confronted him at LAX nightclub in January 2006, and "attacked, assaulted, battered, punched, beat, hit, struck, tortured and imprisoned" Refoua, who suffered a fractured nose and related injuries.

Stewart's history of bad behaviour includes a jail sentence in 2002 for assaulting a stranger in the car park of a Malibu restaurant.
