P Diddy receives rave reviews for ‘A Raisin In The Sun’

P DiddyRapper Sean 'P Diddy' Combs has received rave reviews in his first major Hollywood role.

The 38-year-old music mogul beamed into U.S. homes last night as the lead actor in the three-hour TV adaptation of the Broadway play, A Raisin In The Sun.

The film portrays the struggles of a poor black family who find themselves anticipating the arrival of a $10,000 life-insurance check. Each member of the Younger family has different ideas for how the cash should be spent.

Walter Lee Younger, played by Combs, wants to use it to open a liquor store while his mother, Lena seeks to put her life as a maid behind her and send her daughter, Beneatha, to medical school. The New York Times praised Combs' performance.

Film reviewer Ginia Bellafante said: "That Mr. Combs makes his desires seem like more than empty materialism must come in some part from the fact that he has been hungry at the same table.

"The play's most poignant speech is his, and he delivers it with all of the dignified vengeance it demands, showing us that one of the great advantages of money is the power it provides to tell the wrong people off."

Since filming the feature, Diddy has announced plans to move to Hollywood to "100 percent focus" on becoming a major movie star.

The star said he is looking to buy a mansion in Hollywood - and make a major attempt at breaking into the movie industry. "Every time I do a role I want to get better," said Diddy, who first showed acting talent in "Monster's Ball" and "Carlito's Way: Rise to Power."

The rapper has been working with Susan Batson, who's also Tom Cruise's acting coach, and will spend more time in L.A., where his ex, Kim Porter, lives with their twins. "I definitely want to be more bicoastal. It's been a dream of mine to have a serious acting career," he said.
