The Queen helped Katherine Jenkins out of a tight spot when she had a panic about her table manners. The singer was having lunch with HRH and Prince Philip when she was faced with a bowl she didn't know what to do with.
The 27-year-old said: "I was worried but she really put me at ease. I was mostly concerned about my table manners because I thought they're quite good but what's it going to be like?
"It was after dessert they bought this plate with a piece of gauze and a glass bowl full of water. What do you do?
"And then they served the women first so they obviously served the Queen and then myself and they gave me either grapes or a nectarine. Again, what am I supposed to do with it?
"So the Queen I think could sense my unease and caught my eye and very discreetly showed me that I had to put the fruit in the water and use the gauze to dry it.
"Now you would think in Buckingham Palace they wash the fruit for you."
Jenkins, who is reportely dating Welsh TV presenter Gethin Jones, said it was an intimate lunch with only about five other people.
She said she mainly spoke to the Queen about her future performances and Her Majesty's Corgis.
Speaking on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, she said: "We were talking about her dogs because I love dogs.
"The dogs came in first, the Corgis, and I'm on the floor playing with the dogs and all of a sudden there's her feet."
