Kaplinsky was poached by Britain's Channel Five from the BBC in a pay package reported to be worth £1m ($2m) a year.
The former Strictly Come Dancing winner is part of a new look for Five News which also includes a new set and music.
In her first bulletin today (Monday 18th) under the show title Five News with Natasha Kaplinsky, she ditched her usual smart suit for an open shirt in an attempt to look more casual.
Before she went live Kaplinsky said on her Five News blog: "It's great to be involved with everyone in the newsroom and I can see how things are shaping up for our first show, it's looking good.
"The set has been slowly piecing together over the past couple of days and it's something of a relief that the workmen are finally packing away their screwdrivers and hammers."
At the age of just 35 Kaplinsky has already worked for ITV, Sky and the BBC.
She will present the news at 5pm and 7pm.
