Heartbroken singer Cheryl Cole has sent out the clearest 'sign' yet about the state of her marriage. As the Girls Aloud beauty landed in Los Angeles last night she was greeted by a man from the limo company holding up a one word sign: "Tweedy."
The star - who spent just 48-hours in London with her estranged footballer husband Ashley before returning to L.A. - is clearly more comfortable going by her maiden name these days.
Adding to the turmoil in her life were more than 40 photographers descended on Los Angeles International Airport hoping to catch a glimpse of the star.
But Cheryl was unable to put on the brave face she displayed at the Brit Awards last week. Instead she ducked out through an underground exit after Virgin staff were warned she was about to be ambushed.
An L.A. cop later mispronounced her exit. "Sheryl Crow has gone - she's left," he said.
Cheryl earlier looked down in the dumps leaving Heathrow as she was snapped in jeans, a trench coat and dark sunglasses.
After attending the Brit Awards last week Cheryl reportedly held crisis talks with her love rat hubby Ashley.
The Chelsea football ace is understood to have begged his wife for one more chance. Whether he will get it remains unclear.
The star has been spotted stepping out without her wedding ring after it was revealed in late January that her husband had a one-night stand with hairdresser Aimee Walton.
