Britney Spears’ dad ‘does not trust business manager’

Britney Spears, Jamie Spears Britney Spears' father wants to fire her business manager because he ignored requests from his lawyers, new court documents reveal.

Howard Grossman apparently met the Toxic singer without permission from her conservators and refused to provide them with correspondence between him and Britney's pal Sam Lutfi.

Jamie Spears' lawyers allege Grossman said he had e-mails from Lutfi in which he made a string of demands - including asking for money. "The temporary co-conservators believe they cannot trust Mr. Grossman to follow instructions that they give in fulfillment of their obligations as conservators," a declaration filed at court by lawyer Jeryll S. Cohen states.

At a court hearing last week Jamie Spears - who is looking after Britney's affairs - was given the power to sack Grossman.

Jamie Spears took control of Britney's money and assets after his daughter was committed into a psychiatric ward at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles last week.

Britney's parents reportedly dislike Grossman because of his close-relationship with the star's self-proclaimed manager Lutfi, who they claim drugged their daughter. Now, newly released documents from LA Superior Court show more reasons for them wanting to get rid of Grossman.

Cohen claims he had a conversation with Britney's business manager on February 5 this year. "Mr. Grossman told me he had numerous e-mails from Osama ('Sam') Lutfi in which Mr. Lutfi made various demands, including demands for money," the declaration states.

"Mr. Grossman told me that he did not comply with Mr. Lutfi's demands."

But Grossman apparently refused to provide the conservators' lawyers with copies of those e-mails. Cohen also alleges Grossman ignored their instructions forbidding him to meet with Britney.

Under the powers of the conservatorship order, Jamie Spears is able to restrict the visitors Britney receives and has the right to approve contracts. "I told Mr. Grossman that he was not permitted to give Britney any money, credit cards or access to money or credit cards, or to meet with her at this time at the Beverly Hills Hotel or anywhere else," the declaration reads.

"I am informed and believe that some time after 12.23pm on February 6, 2008, Mr. Grossman met with Britney and attorney Adam Streisand at the Beverly Hills Hotel, without the knowledge or consent of the Temporary Co-Conservators."

Grossman also apparently told Mercedes-Benz to deliver one of Britney's cars to the Beverly Hills Hotel because he wanted to "build her confidence in him".

Britney, 26, discharged herself from the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles on February 6 after doctors ruled she did not pose a danger to herself or to others.

After leaving, she was pursued by crowds of paparazzi and television helicopters on a wild chase around Los Angeles before meeting up with her British pap boyfriend Adnan Ghalib.

The decision by doctors to let Britney leave the mental health facility infuriated the star's parents.

In a statement they said: "As parents of an adult child in the throws of a mental health crisis, we were extremely disappointed this morning to learn that over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist, our daughter Britney was released from the hospital that could best care for her and keep her safe.

"We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk."

"There are conservatorship orders in place created to protect our daughter that are being blatantly disregarded.

"We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."
