Paul McCartney offers Heather Mills $60m to “get her off my back”

Paul McCartney and Lawyer Frustrated Paul McCartney has apparently told his lawyer to offer estranged wife Heather Mills $60m to "get her off my back", it was claimed yesterday.

The order came as he was walking to lunch with $1000-an-hour lawyer Fiona Shackleton - the woman who negotiated Prince Charles' divorce from Princess Diana.

McCartney, 65, was overheard speaking to Shackleton while leaving London’s Royal Courts of Justice. "I had been at another case. I was about a yard behind them," said Mike Pritchard - who was in the leaving the vicinity at the same time as the multi-millionaire music legend.

"He was very irate and told his lawyer, ‘Offer her £30million ($60m) — get her off my back’.

"His lawyer replied, 'We’ll have to see about that later'."

"I couldn’t believe that I’d seen him, or what I overheard.

"Paul then took a call on his mobile phone and they got into their car and were driven off."

He said that Paul - who's worth an estimated $1.6bn - suggested the deal on Monday, Day One of his High Court divorce battle with 40-year-old Heather.

Heather, dubbed Mucca by British tabloids due to her mucky past, is said to have been after a $200million chunk of Paul's vast fortune.

Heather is reportedly demanding homes in the UK and the US, two full-time nannies for their four-year-old daughter Beatrice and round-the-clock security.

A giant box of letters was wheeled into court as she claimed marriage to national treasure Sir Paul had thrust her into the spotlight and ruined her life.

A court source told British newspaper The Sun: "There were lots of letters in the box. She was determined to make an impact."

Another added: "Heather feels her reputation has been destroyed by this marriage. When they split she was always going to be seen as the villain because her husband can do no wrong in the public’s eyes.

"She was determined to make it clear that the marriage is the reason she needs protection, and that he should therefore pay for it. She believes that very strongly because she really does fear for her life."
