Heath Ledger's ex Michelle Williams has finally broken her silence about his death - saying: "My heart is broken."
Former Dawson's Creek star Michelle - who met Heath on the set of Brokeback Mountain - has been in hiding since the actor's death in his New York apartment.
She said their daughter together, two-year-old Matilda Rose, will help keep alive "the best memories" of the man who was the love of her life.
"I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father," she said.
"All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day.
"His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time, and we know that he is with us still.
"She will be brought up in the best memories of him."
Although they split up a few months before Heath's death, the couple always had the bond of the daughter they had together.
Michelle, 27, has since been under intense speculation as to the cause of their split - most centered on reports that she kicked Heath out because of drug use.
Despite releasing a statement, Michelle made it clear she has no plans to speak out more. "Please respect our need to grieve privately," Williams said. "My heart is broken."
Heath, 28, died in his New York loft apartment last week. He was found dead in bed with prescription pills around him.
Toxicology results, expected some time last week, are hoped to give an insight as to what could have caused the star's totally unexpected death.
