Kirsten Dunst's split from Jake Gyllenhaal caused her to party more - which then led to her recent spell in rehab, it has been claimed. When Dunst, 25, checked into rehab earlier this month - fans were left shocked. But those closest to the star were familiar with her lust for hard partying, with some pals blaming Kirsten's wild ways on her 2005 split from Brokeback Mountain star Gyllenhaal.
"Jake was turned off by all the partying," a source tells American magazine Us Weekly in its latest issue. Dunst's rep, however, insists that is "downright wrong."
Ironically, multiple sources say that the actress' regret over the breakup led her to party more – and use cocaine and alcohol. Even though her rep has previously stated: "She is not being treated for cocaine or any drug."
"Whenever the cast and crew were out, she was the center of the group – doing shots and encouraging everyone to drink," a source on her upcoming movie How to Lose Friends & Alienate People said. "There was no such thing as 'just the one' for her."
Dunst will remain at the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah "as long as she needs," a pal said.
