Eric Dane plays down his “fight against cancer”

Eric DaneGrey's Anatomy star Eric Dane has played down recent reports of his "fight against cancer" - insisting it wasn't nearly as dramatic as originally made out.

A recent magazine article sensationalized the fact that Dane, 35, had some malignant cells on his lip frozen off with liquid nitrogen in a doctor's office.

"Eric Dane does not have cancer," his rep tells American magazine Us Weekly in its latest issue. "He spoke with OK! to clear up some inaccuracies they were planning to run. His story certainly does not compare with those actually suffering from the disease."OK! magazine ran Dane's cancer scare story, titled 'MY FIGHT AGAINST CANCER' on the front cover of their February 18 issue; they quoted him as saying: "I was told it was malignant tissue caused by sun damage.

"Before you realize how important sun block is, it is too late."

A source close to the actor - famous for his role as 'Dr. Mark Sloan' in Grey's -  said he was "mortified" by the article . "Never in a million years would he have expected they would exploit his story. He's considering legal action."
