Aretha Franklin honored at the NAACP Image Awards

Aretha FranklinAretha Franklin made a BIG impression - literally - when she was honored at a US awards show.

The Queen of Soul's dress looked like it was struggling to contain her as she stepped up to receive a lifetime achievement prize at the NAACP Image Awards.

Dressed in a flowing white gown, the singer showed off an impressive cleavage - held in by just two tiny spaghetti straps - as she stood on stage in LA's Shrine Auditorium.

The Image Awards honour projects and individuals who promote diversity in the arts, literature, movies, music and television.

'The Great Debaters' was named best film of the year - and also earned best actor and actress honours for Denzel Washington and Jurnee Smollett.

Tyler Perry's 'House of Payne' was named outstanding comedy series, Grey's Anatomy won best drama series and Life Support was victorious in the best TV movie category.

Janet Jackson was a surprise winner of Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, for her role in Tyler Perry's 'Why Did I Get Married?'

America Ferrera won best actress in a comedy series and Darfur Now was named best documentary.

Singer Stevie Wonder was inducted in the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame, kissing Janet Jackson as she presented him with the honour.
