Amy Winehouse put on methadone to help her get through the Brits

Amy WinehouseAmy Winehouse has been put on methadone and prescription drugs by doctors - to help her get through the Brit Awards, it has been revealed.

Doctors decided against putting the 'Rehab' singer through cold turkey - and have chosen to prop her up on pills and potions instead, according to Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper.

The singer, 24, is set to perform twice - singing her single Love Is A Losing Game with her own band and Valerie with Mark Ronson. The soul diva is still having outpatient treatment at London's Capio Nightgale Clinic. But she has moved out of residential care into the Riverside Plaza Hotel.

On Friday, Amy felt well enough to go out on the town with her TV presenter pal Miquita Oliver. They were spotted in a bar in trendy Shoreditch, East London. A pal said: "Amy would be far too sick if she was made to go through complete cold turkey. They have accepted the important thing at the moment is to get her through the awards shows."

Meanwhile, Amy's incarcerated husband Blake Fielder-Civil sent a message from behind bars to love rival Blake Wood - warning him to stay away from his wife. Wood - dubbed Blake II - is a teetotal vegan who has been seen at her London hotel room.

Fielder Civil is fuming. A pal said: "Blake's said that if he finds out the other Blake has tried it on with his wife, he'll 'have him'."

Amy's Dad, Mitch, said yesterday: "Amy's doing really well and really getting better. There has been a fantastic change."
